World's Big Sleep Out

Scotland has inspired the world to act.

The World’s Big Sleep Out trust has been established by Social Bite’s Co-Founder Josh Littlejohn to bring the Sleep in the Park concept worldwide. 300 people took part in our 2016 CEO sleepout, 8000 in our 2017 Sleep in the Park, growing to 10,000 in 2018. What was born in Scotland is now being taken to the global stage.

Social Bite is delighted to be a beneficiary and partner of The World’s Big Sleep Out; a global call to end global homelessness. This December join Will Smith, Dame Helen Mirren, some of the World’s biggest musicians and an expected 50,000 people throughout the world by sleeping out under the stars to help those who have no other choice. You will be helping to raise the life-saving funds needed to help a target of 1,000,000 homeless and displaced people in your area and throughout the world.

Social Bite will play its part in hosting the Scottish leg of the movement with our very own Sleep Out here in Edinburgh.

The ‘World’s Big Sleep Out’ will stage flagship fundraising sleep-out events in Times Square New York and Trafalgar Square London along with a target of at least 50 towns and cities throughout the world including Edinburgh, Chicago, New Delhi, Santiago, Dublin, Newcastle, Brussels, Barcelona and Madrid.

The global campaign aims to see 50,000 people sleep out on the 7th December 2019 to raise a target of $50,000,000 for homelessness and refugee causes worldwide. Partners for the campaign include the Malala Fund, UNICEF USA and the Institute of Global Homelessness, who will be able to support a target of 1,000,000 homeless and displaced people with the funds raised. Local charities will also benefit where the events take place.

What was born in Scotland is now being adopted worldwide, creating a unity like no other before. We set out on this mission to be a Scotland for the world to follow, and we’re doing just that; inspiring others around the world to address this local, global and important issue.
